About the farm
Located at the foot of the São Cosme Valley, Quinta das Pirâmides dates back to the 18th century, when it was known as Quinta do Barreiro. It still preserves a valuable example of Minho’s rural heritage, with features such as the threshing floor, the granary, the wine cellar and the Casa do Feitor.
At the beginning of the 20th century, under the influence of Father Manuel dos Santos Brito and his fascination with Egyptian culture, the estate became known as Quinta das Pirâmides. It was then that small granite sculptures inspired by this theme began to appear throughout the property, giving it a unique identity.
The history of the Quinta also intersects with the literary world of Camilo Castelo Branco. The characters of Novelas do Minho are said to have passed through the lands of Telhado and the estate itself, which is why Quinta das Pirâmides is now part of the Camilo Route.
